Clergy Counseling Network

The Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church has partnered with The Laurence E. Schmidt Center to provide counseling services from qualified mental health professionals  (MHP) around the state to Methodist clergy (elders, deacons, local pastors, associate and provisional members) and their families.

All Network MHPs are persons of Christian faith, licensed by the state and carry specialized training on the issues many clergy and their families face.

There is an average of two MHPs per each district, but those clergy covered by this agreement may use any of the MHPs in the Network.  They are not required to use the MHPs in their District.

How much does it cost?

Each MHP offers their services at a reduced rate of $50/session.  The MHPs will not file insurance but will provide all the necessary information for you to file on your own.

The Laurence Schmidt Center will provide a monthly report to the Conference on the total number of individuals seen and the number of sessions they have used.  All client information is completely confidential and will not be shared with the Conference or the District Superintendant.

Is it Confidential?

All MHPs are bound by the legal and ethical standards of their profession.  All information is absolutely confidential with a few exceptions, which are required by law:  (1) If the client is suicidal,  (2) if the client is homicidal or (3) if the client reports current abuse of a child or elderly person.

What Services are offered?

Counseling services provided by Network MHPs include individual counseling, family counseling, and marital counseling.  They do not provide after-hour or emergency services.  In case of an after-hours emergency, persons are encouraged to go to their local hospital or call 911.

How do I find a Clergy Counseling Network MHP?

An updated list of all MHPs in the Network can be found on the Conference website (www.arumc.org), on the Laurence Schmidt Center website (www.veralloyd.org/lsc.htm) or by calling the Laurence E. Schmidt Center at 501-664-7777.
