Central UMC - Teacher & Staff Luncheon

Teachers and staff enjouy a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall of Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Late in July at the Northwest District Picnic for pastors and spouses held at picturesque Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville, one pastor said that in the past during the in-service weeks for the school teachers, they had fed them lunch. That was all it took for DeNese Newbill, chairwoman of the N.O.W. (Nurture, Outreach, Witness) Committee at Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln, to bring the idea to the church. A high school teacher and member of Central UMC, Sara Simmons, talked with the school administration, arranged a date and informed DeNese there would be about 70 attending the lunch. Teachers, coaches and other staff members attended a salad-dessert lunch at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17. The church’s women brought large portions of their favorite dishes to feed the guests.
