Arkansas United Methodist
Publishing Guidelines
The Arkansas United Methodist seeks to provide readers with news, features and commentary about United Methodism that affects the United Methodist laity and clergy of Arkansas. We strive to encourage United Methodists as well as challenge them to consider their role in the denominational connection and the larger community of the Christian faith.
Article submissions should be of conference-wide interest, and approximately 750 words in length; commentaries should be 500-600 words. Items below the preferred word count may be considered for online-only distribution; items above this word count may be edited to fit available space.
Preference will be given to topics that inspire, encourage and challenge United Methodist Christians to fulfill the mission of the United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Photo submissions must be high-resolution JPEG or TIFF images of 200 dpi or higher. Images of ministry in action will be given preference over posed group photos. (Tip: Generally, a digital photograph that is at least one megabyte in size will be usable in the Arkansas United Methodist. Anything smaller than one megabyte will most likely be too small to print clearly.)
E-mailed article and photo submissions are preferred. Send submissions or story pitches to editor@arumc.org or mail to Arkansas United Methodist, Attn: Editor, 800 Daisy Bates Dr., Little Rock, AR 72202. If photos are to be returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
