"Three Cures for One Kingdom," is dedicated to stamping out HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, diseases which are major contributors to the creation and perpetuation of worldwide poverty.
The 3-for-1 Project is a three-part commitment. Churches pledge that over the next three years they will:
- Give $1 per member for the United Methodist Global AIDS Fund
- Purchase 1 net per every 10 members for "Nothing But Nets." (Nets cost $10 each)
- Give $1 per member for the fight against Tuberculosis (through the World Health Organization’s Stop TB)
The
3-for-1 Project is intended to be simple and completely in the hands of
the individual local churches. The overall goal is to raise funds and
awareness. How each church goes about that is entirely up to them. Some ideas include:
- Make 3-for-1 a part of a special Lenten or
Advent offerings.
- Ask children to bring an extra dollar each day of
Vacation Bible School.
- Ask each person to leave $1 on the chancel
rail as they take communion on or around World AIDS Day (December 1st).
- Hold a basketball shootout or 3 on 3 contest. Challenge different small groups in the
church to compete against one another.
